PSHE
At Thanet Primary we are all informed citizens!
At Thanet we are all informed citizens! In our nursery children start the Jigsaw program that we follow at Thanet. Learning develops and progresses across the school with each year group following the same piece of the jigsaw puzzle at the same time with a focus on well-being throughout. Children learn about being themselves in their world, evolve their dreams and goals and learn what constitutes healthy relationships. Through this progressive teaching, we aim that our pupils develop the skills, knowledge and attributes to leave Thanet motivated to keep themselves healthy and prepared for life and work in modern Britain.
Through our whole school approach to the teaching of PSHE (Personal, Social and Health Education), pupils develop the knowledge and emotional literacy skills needed to not only help them reach their academic potential, but also to help them maintain a healthy body and mind in later life.
PSHE at Thanet is taught and delivered through the Jigsaw Scheme of work, which ensures compliance with DFE guidance, a whole school (from Nursery right through to Year 6 ) approach, a common ‘emotional’ language and that pupils’ skills are built on throughout their time in primary school. Through half termly ‘themes’ and enjoyable and engaging weekly lessons, our pupils gain resilience, confidence in keeping safe and healthy (including online), understand the key British Values, build better relationships and understand their special value and individual worth within society.
Our links with the wider world are further enhanced through strong links with our partner school, Safinatu Primary, in Freetown, Sierra Leone.
